itoos PMP If you cannot afford an iPod, the Chinese company itoos offers a less expensive alternative. The T68HD PMP features a 4.3-inch 800x480 display, supports external memory and has TV-out and FM tuner. It plays 720p HD video and support for RM/RMVB and AVI video files. Choose between 4 and 8GB models. The 8GB carries a price tag of 599 Chinese Yuan ($88.00,) less for the 4GB version.

HMS Battleship Radio Replace that outdated rubber ducky with this waterproof HMS Battleship. The floating ship has an FM tuner with auto-scanning, volume control and reset button. At a size of 19 x 5 x 4cm, the HMS needs 2 AAA batteries (not included.) Equipped with missiles and guns, we figure you could probably grab a couple of them at £13.00 (~$19.00) each and have soapy battles with your best bud.

Sony X1000 Walkman

X1000 Sony’s answer to Apple’s touch may turn out to be competition. The X1000 features a 3-inch (432x240 pixels) OLED touchscreen display, 32GB storage, an FM tuner, MP3, AAC, WMA, WAV audio/AVC, H.264, MPEG4, WMV video capability and 802.11g/b WiFi. It also has integrated noise cancellation, a NetFront browser, 33 hours of music or 9 hours of video playback. No price or availability date as yet and we hope it comes in more than the finish shown.

Cool8800C Cell Phone/Gaming System

The Cool8800C works like an ordinary cell phone with touchscreen until you unfold it and it becomes a mini-gaming system with a second screen with audio/video/NES compatibility. Other features of the 120 x 55 x 23 device is dual-band GSM with GPRS, Bluetooth and e-book capability, an FM tuner, 1GB memory and microSD and TF card slots. We dig the idea and the $140.00 price, but we are thinking that you might have to practice to get the hang of the gaming aspect.

Transcend PF810 Digital Photo Frames

Transcend has two new digital photo frames, the PF810W (white) and PF810B (black.) While most companies offer frames that are basically similar, these have LED lit touch-sensitive interfaces built into the frames. The 810 is an 8-inch 800x600 (4:3) color TFT LCD panel with 2GB of built-in flash and can handle JPG and BMP formats. Choose from slide show or single shot mode. It also has Automatic Orientation Sensor and NaturaTone skin color processing, as well as being equipped with an MP3 player, alarm clock, calendar and an FM tuner.

Samsung YP-VP1 Voice Recorder/Camera

YP-VP1 Recorder/Cam Samsung has a new YP-VP1 voice recorder that includes a built-in camera. Take a picture and use VoicePix to add a tag. Other features include voice detection, FM tuner and noise reduction. In a choice of black or silver, the YP-VP1 comes in a 2GB model with 520 recording hours in LP mode and a 4GB that can hold up to 1040 hours of audio. At this point, the device is only available in Korea but somehow it wouldn’t be a big surprise to see some in use at next year’s CES.

QTV Photo frames aren’t so dull-looking anymore. The QTV is not only a frame that can produce a slide show with music, it is also an FM tuner, and MP3 and 4 player. With a 3.5-inch TFT LCD, it has a 320x234p resolution, a built-in speaker, an alarm clock and calendar. The device has a built-in Li-ion rechargeable battery, an SD slot that supports SD/SDHC and MMC and USB 2.0 thumb drive. The QTV has an energy saving auto-shut off, comes in yellow or pukey pink with adapter and mini USB cable at a price of $89.00.

iStation D3 e-Dictionary

In addition to the Korean company iStation’s T3 Pmp, they have now unveiled their D3, a media e-dictionary. In addition to the handy word tool, the D3 has a 3.5-inch screen (480x320,) DMB and FM tuners, a microphone and a choice of 8, 16 and 32GB capacities. It will handle MP3, WMA, AC3, OGG, WAV, MSADPCM, FLAC, APE, MPEG1/2/4, DivX, Xvid, WMV7/8/9 , SMI, JPEG, BMP, PNG, RAW, SWF, ZIP, ALZ and CXD files. So far there is no price or date of availability.

SanDisk is also at CES, this time with the Sansa slotRadio Player with FM tuner.The portable aluminum digital system with 1.5-inch OLED screen is available with slotMusic memory cards that are preloaded with tunes. One of them is included with 1,000 classics from Billboard charts including rock, country, contemporary and more which are arranged according to genre. The plug-and-play slotRadio will be available at Radio Shack and other retailers and online at slotRadio. The player has a MSRP of $99.99 with other cards priced at $39.99.
